Tenerife - The Largest & Busiest of the Canary Islands
Tenerife, the friendly island
Tenerife rises calmly under the shadow of the omnipresent Teide, a magic mountain of 3718 meters height which has been beloved and worshipped beyond the limits of memory. Its height crowns the peaks of this beautiful and unique land with its many contrasts and is admired at every step.
In Tenerife, everything is beautiful: in the north, where the trade winds let you feel the freshness, as well as the enormous luminosity of the south, where the spring weather embellishes Tenerife´s slow and quiet, but also lively and colorful topography. Tenerife covers an area of 2036 square kilometers, making it the largest island of the Canary Island chain. Triangular, Tenerife is just like a huge pyramid that is hatched on the high and steep coast, which grows towards the center, to the plain Las Cañadas, culminating in the Teide, a peak that still sends daily a vast amount of hydrogen as well as substantial amounts of water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane and other gases. Being the highest island of the archipelago, Tenerife has a huge variety of climates, from the snowy peaks of Mount Teide up until the gentle sun of Puerto de la Cruz. By exploring the Island in depth the traveller will discover a real garden of beauty, a paradise where over 48% of the island's surface is protected by the Law of Natural Spaces of the Canary Islands and with the main focus on the Teide National Park, one of the fifteen national parks in Spain, which enjoys such recognition since 1954.
But Tenerife hidden treasures of infinite landscape value as the Anaga Massif, with its moderate heights and cut by deep slashes. Or the Cañadas, with its stunning scenery that represents one of the most beautiful natural areas of the island.
